Ms. Glenda Barrios from NCC came to the middle school to talk with Ms. Nilson's 7th and 8th graders about her journey in life. She talked about coming over to the United States, learning English, and how she got to where she is today. She talked about how important it is for students to strive to do their best and that anything is possible if they set her mind to it. She talked about how she helps adults get enrolled in English classes, helps those who are working towards their GED or HiSET, and helps people who want to get into the workforce. 6th graders in Mrs. Simonsen's class put their critical thinking skills to the test with Lego coding! Students utilized the Lego for Education Spike Essential Kits to build a carnival game of their choice and then program it using block coding to communicate with the motor, light, color sensor, or gyro sensor, bringing their project to life. The kids in Mrs. Vogel's class have started a Brew Buggy at the Middle School. They offer hot drinks and breakfast bars to the teachers and 7th/8th grade students on Monday and Friday mornings.
