2nd graders focus some time each month for Ag in the Classroom. This month students learned more about what is needed to grow different types of crops. These 2nd grade students are using mini marker boards to segment words. This helpful for our students to see the different parts that a word has and then helps them when they read the word. East Elementary uses the curriculum Really Great Reading as part of their daily reading instruction. Students in 1st and 3rd grade meet each week to read and do different learning activities with their "buddies". This week the students got to work together to be the author of their own story, "If You Give a Buddy a Cookie". The students worked on writing their stories while enjoying a treat of chocolate milk and cookies. Thank you to Kiwk Star for the donation of the chocolate milk. Students in 3rd grade have been studying famous people of the past. As part of their study, students performed a play for the 2nd graders about some of the people they studied. This group of students performed a play about Clara Barton, an American nurse who founded the American Red Cross.
