The 2nd grade students have spent the last two weeks participating in March Book Madness! 8 books were selected from the top checked out picture books from the East Elementary Library. The students then read each of those books and voted on what book should move on to be this year's favorite book. Students also got to travel to the High School and participate in some basketball activities with some of the High School Basketball players! Spring Pre-Registration for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten is NOW OPEN! Online registration window open is open through April 1, 2023 (notes were sent home on the correct steps to register online) Little Orabs Preschool – return the bottom of the form to classroom teacher (no online pre-registration is needed, you will register in August) If your child attends Noah’s Ark, His Little Ones, Kingdom Kids or Headstart a packet has been sent home with instructions and information on online registration. The 6th grade students just finished their unit on "Overcoming Obstacles" and have started their "Number the Stars" unit. To tie the two themes together, the students are creating podcasts that will share information about people from WWII who overcame obstacles to help in the Resistance. 6th graders wore a fraction, decimal, or percent around the Middle School for the last few days. As teachers or other students came up to them, they were asked what their equivalent decimal, percent, or fractions were. This was a great way to help our students memorize some commonly used fractions, decimals and percentages. #LeadOn #Orabs #math #sheldonorabs #sheldon #middleschool

3rd and 4th grade students will be taking the ISASPS Test in April. These are very important tests for our students and we want them to be at their best during those test. We are looking for snack donations for the snack break between tests. If you are willing to donate snacks to the school for this, please have them at East Elementary by April 1. Friday afternoon was such a fun end to our week at East Elementary! 2nd-4th graders competed in a St. Patrick's Day themed Minute to Win It activities, while TK-1st grade participated in a St. Patrick's Day scavenger hunt around the school. 8th graders at the Sheldon Middle School complete a History Day Project each year. Students research a topic in History and create a project to share their information. The 8th graders then present their projects to the public on History Day Night and are judged on their project information, display, and presentation skills. Before their presentation night, the students were able to practice sharing their projects with some of the younger students in the Middle School. This was a great way for the students to practice presenting their project, as well as show the younger students an exciting project that they get to do when they get to 8th grade. #LeadOn #Orabs #sheldon #historyday #learning #presentationskills #leaders #history

Mrs. Fox's life skills cooking class made a delicious treat to enjoy together. Each week the students pick out a something to make. Students follow a visual recipe and work together to make something to enjoy. Preschool students have been learning about Dinosaurs this week. Preschoolers dug for fossils, used playdough to make different dinosaur shapes, researched different dinosaurs and more. Registration for the Sheldon Middle School Family Fun Night is DUE TODAY! We would like to invite you to our Family Night on Thursday, March 23rd from 5:30-7:30 at Sheldon Middle School. We are planning a fun family event that is filled with fun, games, and activities. This is a time for middle school students and parents to connect and experience all the great things happening in our building! The festivities will begin with a grill out meal from 5:30-6:15 in the middle school commons. After the meal, there will be three - 20 minute sessions provided by middle school teachers.
