Friday afternoon was such a fun end to our week at East Elementary! 2nd-4th graders competed in a St. Patrick's Day themed Minute to Win It activities, while TK-1st grade participated in a St. Patrick's Day scavenger hunt around the school. 8th graders at the Sheldon Middle School complete a History Day Project each year. Students research a topic in History and create a project to share their information. The 8th graders then present their projects to the public on History Day Night and are judged on their project information, display, and presentation skills. Before their presentation night, the students were able to practice sharing their projects with some of the younger students in the Middle School. This was a great way for the students to practice presenting their project, as well as show the younger students an exciting project that they get to do when they get to 8th grade. #LeadOn #Orabs #sheldon #historyday #learning #presentationskills #leaders #history

Mrs. Fox's life skills cooking class made a delicious treat to enjoy together. Each week the students pick out a something to make. Students follow a visual recipe and work together to make something to enjoy. Preschool students have been learning about Dinosaurs this week. Preschoolers dug for fossils, used playdough to make different dinosaur shapes, researched different dinosaurs and more. Registration for the Sheldon Middle School Family Fun Night is DUE TODAY! We would like to invite you to our Family Night on Thursday, March 23rd from 5:30-7:30 at Sheldon Middle School. We are planning a fun family event that is filled with fun, games, and activities. This is a time for middle school students and parents to connect and experience all the great things happening in our building! The festivities will begin with a grill out meal from 5:30-6:15 in the middle school commons. After the meal, there will be three - 20 minute sessions provided by middle school teachers. The Life Skills students have been learning more about mental health, how to improve their mental health, and what to do if you feel like you need help. The students had a guest speaker come to class to talk more about the Student Assistance Program (SAP). SAP partners with a variety of school districts to provide support to students. The Student Assistance Program is free and designed for assessment, brief counseling and referral. Counselors help explore issues, offer coping skills, as well as recommendations referrals for services outside of the SAP sessions. 3rd and 4th grade students will be taking the ISASP Test in April. These are very important tests for our students and we want them to be at their best during those test. We are looking for snack donations for the snack break between tests. If you are willing to donate snacks to the school for this, please have them at East Elementary by April 1. Kindergarten students have been practicing reading, writing, and completing their CVC words. This student is using Seesaw to practice building CVC words on her own. Seesaw is used in many of our classrooms to help individualize our student's learning, as well as provide quick feedback for our students, parents, and teachers. The 6th grade students have been learning about ancient civilizations. This week as a review activity, the students had to sort the beliefs and accomplishments of the Maya, Inca, and Aztecs civilizations into a triple Venn Diagram.
