On Friday, two guest speakers came in to talk to 5th graders about identity theft and shared with them ways to prevent it from happening!

They also had posters outside their classrooms showing degrees they've received. This day helps spark conversations between staff & students as they finish up their Guidance units on Careers & Education.

Yesterday participants in The Champion Network had a year-end celebration where Young Orabs from East Elementary & their high school Champions met one final time for the school year. They had ice cream sundaes and got to take home photos to remember the first year of a successful mentorship program at Sheldon Community Schools!

Exploring new realms of creativity in our Writers Makerspace during English 9 at the Sheldon High School.
Students were able to create a character that would be featured in their creative short story. Having the ability to create before writing helped students form character ideas and plot lines in a hands on way before even sitting down to write.

One fun game they played was Heart Word Name Hunt.
Students are given a heart word to be their new name and they have to write all of their classmates new names.

Students in Ms. Nordahl's class were put through various challenges with their robots where students had to properly code their robot to complete the challenge.

6th graders in Mrs. Simonsen's class put their critical thinking skills to the test with Lego coding!
Students utilized the Lego for Education Spike Essential Kits to build a carnival game of their choice and then program it using block coding to communicate with the motor, light, color sensor, or gyro sensor, bringing their project to life.
