Preschool students are doing a Transportation Study this week and they are having so much fun and learning a lot! In dramatic play, students have been pretending to be mechanics working on different cars. They even have got to dress up like mechanics. We might have some future mechanics in this class! Preschool students have also learned about different types of transportation vehicles and the jobs that they do. Our students are having so much fun learning about transportation this week! #preschool #leadOn #orabs #transportation #dramaticplay

The students in 1st grade got to experience the Star Lab last week. 1st graders were able to go inside of the lab and see how the night sky looks during different seasons. Such a great experience for our students to learn more about the stars. Thanks to O'Brien County Conservation for making this possible for our students. #LeadOn #Orabs #Sheldon #starlab #elementaryeducation

The 8th graders have been learning how to solve different types of equations in math class. One way that the students have practiced improving this skill is by using manipulatives to help them visualize the equation. This is a great way for our students to not only learn how to solve the equation, but also for them to "see" the equation and understand how and why they got the answer they did. Great work 8th grade! #LeadOn #Orabs #Sheldon #math #middleschool

What is a Leader? The Sheldon CSD School Board was able to learn from the East Elementary students and teachers what it means to be a leader at school. Some of our Kindergarten through 4th grade students came to the board meeting last night and answered some questions from board members and building principals about how they work to be a good leader in their school each day. The teachers also shared with the board how they implement leadership skills in their teaching each week to help the students grow their leadership skills. We are proud of our students and teachers for their leadership work for our district! #LeadOn #Orabs #Sheldon #elementary #leadershipskills

Update
Across all of our buildings and classrooms chances are that if you walk into a classroom, you will see a "Bell Ringer" posted or being discussed at the beginning of class. Bell Ringers are used to engage students in short assignments or assessments, review key concepts that have already been taught, stimulate classroom discussion or used to find misconceptions and misunderstandings students may have before the new lesson starts. Whether its a number sorting activity in Kindergarten, identifying which words are verbs in 5th grade, asking your partner to make a list of pros and cons to a new school rule in 8th grade or completing a sample math problem at the high school our teachers do a great job of starting class off with Bell Ringers to get our students focused on the learning target for the day. #LeadOn #Orabs #Sheldon

The 7th and 8th grade students just finished up their Archery Unit! In this unit students worked on their hand and eye coordination in their attempts to hit the targets around the gym. Some of our students even hit the target right in the bullseye! Way to go 7th and 8th grade. #Leadon #Orabs #Sheldon #PE
