USD BUSINESS ACADEMY / June 15-17, 2025

This camp gives high school students the chance to dive into real-world business concepts, connect with with professionals, and build valuable skills that will set you apart.

  • Interact with business professions across various fields

  • Meet other students from around the region

  • Engage in fun activities such as a movie at the Vermillion Theater, games at the Beacom School of Business, and activities at the USD Wellness Center.

Important Information:

  • Dates: June 15-17, 2025

  • Location: Beacom School of Business

  • Registration Fee: $100 (for all 3 days)

  • Registration Closes: May 16, 2025

  • Time: Starting Sunday, June 15 at 4:15

  • Open to ALL High School Students

  • Participants will receive a $500 scholarship to be applied towards future enrollment in the USD Beacom School of Business.

Career Fair hosted by the 185th Air Refueling Wing - Sioux City, IA / Tuesday, April 8 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

What's offered at the career fair? 

  • Learn about careers in aviation operations and aircraft maintenance

  • Tour a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker

  • Receive a gift bag with information about becoming an Air National Guard member

Summer Opportunities

Hero Academy / July 27 - August 1 @ Camp Fort Dodge in Johnston, IA

The Hero Academy is launching a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young women (ages 16-18) in Central Iowa to explore careers in firefighting, policing and the military. The camp is run by the Des Moines Police Department, the Des Moines Fire Department and the Iowa National Guard.

The instructors are current First Responders, who will challenge and push the boundaries to help you discover career opportunities with a week's worth of hands-on activities.

  • Hands on training in firearms /munitions, defensive tactics, hydrant and hose handling, search and rescue drills. CSI skills.

  • Daily physical training exercises to prepare for professional physical requirements.

  • Career panels and gues speakers including local heroes, emergency leaders and elected officials.

  • Training in drills in firefighting, law enforcement and military exercises and decision-making.

Sheldon Avenue of Flags

Many volunteers are needed to set up the Sheldon Avenue of Flags!

Dates:

Thursday, May 1: Loyalty Day

Saturday, May 17: Armed Forces Day

Monday, May 26: Memorial Day

Flags are put out Saturday morning on the 24th @ 7 AM and taken down @ 5PM on the 26th.

Saturday, June 14 Flag Day

Flags are put out on Thursday morning on the 24th @ 7:00 AM and taken down @ 5PM on the 26th.

Saturday, June 14: Flag Day

Friday, July 4: Independence Day

Flags are put out Thursday morning on the 3rd @ 7 a.m. & taken down @ 5 PM on the 1st.

Monday, September 1: Labor Day

Flags are put out Saturday morning on August 30th @ 7:00 AM & taken down at 5:00 PM on the 1st.

If you are willing to assist in setting up the flags, please be on the East side of the City Park at 7:00 AM. Flags are retired at 5:00 PM.

Volunteer hours will count toward the Silver Cord Award. Wally Wolthuizen will sign for students for community service hours.
