National School Librarian Day is observed on April 4th each year, a day to recognize the important contributions of school librarians who help students succeed academically and foster a love of reading.
Thank you for creating such a welcoming and inspiring space for learning and reading!

Good luck to Sheldon High School students that will be attending the State Band/Choir Solo/Ensemble Contest on Saturday!
It will start roughly at 8:15am and will go until round 4pm at Western Christian High School in Hull.
This event is an opportunity for students to perform solos and in small groups. Judges will score them and assign a rating of 1-5, with 1 being "outstanding". There will be vocal and instrumental performances that take place in 7 minute blocks throughout the day. Some students are doing both and have several different performances.

Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of April each year. A huge thank you to our paraprofessionals for your incredible dedication and hard work. Your support makes a real difference in our students' lives and your guidance is instrumental to their success!

Mr. Kleinhesselink's High School Anatomy & Physiology class toured the Biology facilities at Northwestern College. NWC faculty took the time to share state-of-the-art technology and resources their students interact with, including a demonstration in the Human Cadaver Lab. It was a great experience for our students!

Come out and support the Sheldon Jazz and Show Choir on Friday and Saturday night! The event will start at 7:00 PM each night in the Sheldon High School Auditorium.

Sheldon High School students competed in a space design competition at SDSU. Their task was to design and pitch the first major settlement on Mars- a port city called Argonom.
Students are given a press release describing the task in a very general way and a request for proposal (RFP) with much more detail when they arrive. They were responsible for designing a city for 1500 full-time residents and 2500 transients, including the structural design, operations and infrastructure, human factors and safety, and automation on a planet with relatively no atmosphere, intense dust storms and winds, and 1/3 the gravity of Earth. They had 21.5 hours to complete this task, and many students worked all night. Their final products were impressive!
Feel free to ask these students about their experience!
Rachel Besaw, Gage Haan, Olivia Prewitt, Cohen Bruns, Jordan Verburg and Kylie Robinson.
Rachel, Gage, and Jordan were on the company that won the bid. Rachel and Gage were invited to participate in the national competition at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida this July!
Thank you for your support of these students and the programs that give these students these kinds of opportunities!

Congratulations to the Sheldon High School students who received Individual All-State Speech nominations!
