Chemistry students were measuring the enthalpy change in a recent lab. Enthalpy change is the name given to the amount of heat evolved or absorbed in a reaction carried out at constant pressure. The students had to measure the mass of substances and the temperature change of reactions to calculate the amount of heat energy that was absorbed or released from the reaction.
Great work!

Student in Biology are learning about cellular respiration, which is the breakdown of food, specifically glucose, to make chemical energy for our cells. In this lab, students are testing their carbon dioxide output, breath rate, and heart rate. Students were able to test how much carbon dioxide is removed by breathing into a pH indicator that changed colors based on the acidity from the carbon dioxide. The quicker the change in color, the more carbon dioxide that was removed and thus the more cellular respiration that occurred.

Spanish II students have been studying Spanish terminology for different directional words and places found in a city. To practice these terms, students created a city map in Spanish and then wrote directions in Spanish on how to get from one place to another. Students then tested their Spanish speaking and listening skills and directed their classmates around their city map.
